Straight Stitch Machine Embroidery
Friday May 6th, 10:00AM – 1:00PM
Seams Sew Easy Quilt Shop’s event center, 2326 Mack Road
Mimic the look of vintage Redwork embroidery in a fraction of the time with Straight Stitch Machine Embroidery. In this class we will start with a preprinted embroidery panel (choose animals or flowers) and use any straight stitch sewing machine.
By the end of the class the student should be comfortable with the straight stitch technique, and know how to end their thread tails. Most students will finish one or two blocks in class.
Supply List
Required kit ($15) includes:
• 4 preprinted embroidery blocks
• 12 weight Sulky machine embroidery thread in the traditional redwork color: turkey red
(Note: Sulky Blendables are not recommended for this technique)
• Sulky tear away lightweight interfacing
• Embroidery needle for tying off ends
Students provide:
• Regular weight thread for the bobbin. (Please have one bobbin already wound with red thread.)
• Glue stick
• Sewing machine with open toe foot (increase your success by using a foot that doesn’t have anything blocking your view of the needle including a clear plastic bridge – this could be a straight stitch foot or an open toed embroidery foot.)
