Class Description
In class we plan to construct a basic New York Beauty block, and also a more elaborate one with some fun variations. Skills include color placement within the block and overall palette considerations, basic paper-foundation piecing, and curved piecing with its alternatives. We’ll probably also have some fun!

Supply List
Sewing machine in good working order, equipped with a quarter-inch foot, and a medium-sized needle (90/14). If you already have an open-toe embroidery foot (like the Bernina #20), pop it in your bag.
Basic sewing supplies, including good fabric scissors, and scissors for cutting paper.
Freezer paper (about 15”).
Travel iron and personal ironing board, if permitted (optional).
Rotary cutting supplies.
Wide masking tape for clean-ups, cellophane tape for repairs (both optional but handy).
Retractable box cutter for trimming paper on mat, (optional).
NOTE: Pattern fee of $20 for pages to work from in class, plus pattern masters for completing the quilt, with permission to photocopy for personal use.
Fabric: The key word to remember is contrast, especially between the “spires” and their background. Bring a minimum of 15-20 fat quarters (used OK) of fabrics
This workshop is $60.00 for members, plus $1.50 credit card processing fee. Non-members will be required to pay an additional $10.00 non-member fee plus $0.50 credit card processing fee.
